Boring Winter Break Class

Sooo it’s 2010! Happy New Year to everybody! In this new year, or at least at the beginning, I’m going to try and make a better effort to keep up with my blog. I apologize for never writing much about my trip to Nepal. I feel like I have talked with almost everybody who would have been reading this anyway, and filled them in on my trip, but if I haven’t and you would like to hear about it, please let me know! I love any opportunity that allows me to share my experiences in Nepal.

But let’s get everybody filled in on the life of Danielle. Lots of new and exciting things have transpired over the last couple of months that my mom would say are worth blogging about. Which is why I’m sitting here writing this. We will start out by saying that I have a boyfriend! That’s right, ME! I realize this is a new and shocking concept for some of you to grasp about me, but it’s true. His name is Daniel, and my friends and family have already started calling us “the Dan’s”. I won’t say too much about this development since I know he is reading this ;-) But I will say that I’m quite happy! I’m excited to see what this year holds for the two of us.

I am also learning to live my life very independently. I have always lived with family and roommates, but for the last couple of months I have been living alone. My roommate got married last minute and moved away from the Springs, leaving me to live by myself. At the beginning I was scared and nervous and not happy about this, but I have come to love it! I love having the time to myself and my independence. Because of this, I spend the weeks alone in Colorado Springs and then, to get some human contact and interaction, I head up to Aurora for the weekends, allowing me to spend more time with my family. It has been a good balance, and I think it has been very good for me.

And I will end by saying that God has been showing himself to me lately in ways that I never would have expected. It has been so fantastic to fall in love with Jesus all over again. I never would have thought that by getting into a relationship, that it would make me seek after the Lord even more, and in completely new ways. I see his hand over my relationships, and my life, and I am so thrilled to be starting this new year off with God right next to me, we are unstoppable force.

A few of my New Years resolutions? Sure, why not? As continued from two years ago, I will continue to read my bible every single day. Even if it is just one verse, and I would love to encourage any of you to do the same. It is really amazing to see how the Lord speaks to you, even if you aren’t expecting it. Another one, learn to play at least one song on the guitar. I have always wanted to learn to play the guitar and I’m hoping this year will be the year I can maybe get into that. The Royal Gorge swing! I’m sure most of you know what the Royal Gorge is, and apparently there is a big swing/free fall thing that you can do that goes through it…way awesome! You can youtube this topic if you are unsure of what I’m talking about. My goal is to get Daniel to do it with me ;-) And the last New Years resolution would be to make more of an effort to really pray for my friends. I always say “I will pray for you” and a lot of times I will, once, and then leave it. I want to be conscious about really lifting people up in prayer this year, and continuing to pray for them until God answers.

Well, that’s a little bit from me to start off this New Year. I love comments! I love knowing who is reading my blog and to know if I have somebody to keep writing for. Until next time. --D
