Arrived in Kathmandu

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Nepal! I didn't expect to fall in love with the country as much and as fast as I did. I didn't ever think that I would even love a country so much that is so poor and dirty and filthy, but I do. When we arrived late late Sunday night it was dark and everything was so new to me that I was very scared and uncomfortable, but when I saw the people and the city in the daylight I was able to see it for what it was. Because I was scared and uncomfortable I drew closer to God almost immediately, which was great because now I feel like from the very beginning of the trip, God is right by my side. We are staying until tomorrow morning at a guest house in Kathmandu, which is like a hotel in America, just very dirty and such, but in Nepal it is very luxurious. Tomorrow we begin our quest out west and start Trekking on Friday.

Yesterday we were able to meet a few of the local christians here, and visit the Kathmandu children's home. I loved it so much. It made me cry a few times to see all of these believers who live on the opposite side of the world and speak a different language worship and love the same God as me. It was amazing to hear them pray and sing the same worship songs as us. And I just fell in love with the children, and i only spent a half an hour with them! they didn't understand us at all and we didn't understand them at all but somehow we all managed to smile and laugh more than i can ever remember doing. we won't get to see those kids again because we are spending time at the other childrens homes, i can't wait to meet them and actually spend some quality time with them-plus the children at the home we are going to speak english.

I know i'm just rambling and going all over the place i just want to tell you all so much! one of the hardest parts for me so far is that i'm experiencing such an awesome place and things and all i want to do is call you guys up and tell you about it and i can't, it makes me a little homesick. but my team is great and we are all having such a great time. i really do love the country and the people here, i know one day that God will have total victory over this country, they have already come such a long way in spreading the gospel. I'm so proud and happy to be apart of this, and meet all the christians here that are living it out everyday.
