People We're Pleased To Know

These are my new favorite people!

Our group is a group of college students who are "training" to become Young Life leaders. We meet every Tuesday night and have really started to bond and grow very close as a group. This past weekend we were able to go to Buena Vista, Colorado together! There is a Young Life winter camp that was up there at Frontier Ranch this weekend that our group was originally suppose to do work crew for. These camps usually have 300 students that attend them each year, but this year there were 700 students who signed up to go! Because of this, we were booted from doing work crew because they had some of the students help out. However, our leader Kristi, was able to arrange for our group to still go up there and hang out and check everything out.

We stayed in this HUGE mansion about 5 minutes away from the camp. We got to just hang out all weekend the 9 of us, eat good food, have some good laughs, and just fellowship and grow closer to each other as well as hanging out and checking out the Young Life camp. It was kind of a win-win situation and all 9 of us really enjoyed ourselves!

My favorite part of the whole weekend was Saturday night. We went and sat in on club (which was the meeting for all the students at camp). It was so cool to see 700 students come together and really have fun and laugh and enjoy themselves outside of their normal environment. A Young Life leaders job is to really get students to step outside their comfort zone, so it was really cool to see that many students just relax and have fun with their guards down. At the end of the talk the speaker encouraged everybody to just take 15 minutes and go outside and reflect on a few questions he asked them. Now these are high school students, the majority of whom are not Christians. When I left the clubhouse last and walked outside it was so amazing to see hundreds of high school students spread across the grounds all just in their own space being quiet (and hopefully listening to God). Just the fact that they could all go be away from their friends and sit in silence for 15 minutes was amazing in itself. I am sure that God spoke to some of those kids that night.

The whole weekend really encouraged me in every way. But it also really got me excited to become a Young Life leader! I cannot wait to get involved in the high school Young Life clubs and get to know girls one on one, and hopefully, take them up to Frontier Ranch for camp one day!

On another note, this next week I am applying for a month long mission trip this upcoming summer to Rwanda! I have been praying about a mission trip for a long time, and I feel like God will use me wherever I go, and right now the MILL mission trip to Rwanda is where my heart is!

So glad you had such a fantastic time and that you're pursuing Young Life. They're top notch in their field. I've got a few co-workers who are Young Life leaders. I did a stint with them when I was your age. Great memories. Thanks for sharing about Rwanda too--WOW! Share more and you've definitely your family praying for you!

Love you Dani!
